Ola driver allegedly kills techie-passenger in Chennai over OTP skirmish
An Ola driver allegedly killed a male passenger in Chennai on Sunday. The incident was triggered by an argument between the two over sharing of one-time password or OTP while boarding the car and the number of passengers that could be accommodated. The police have arrested the cab driver, said media reports.
The victim, identified as Umendra (34), worked with a software company in Coimbatore and, as per reports, he was in Chennai with his wife and children. He was visiting a relative over the weekend.
As per reports, Umendra, with his wife, children and other relatives, had gone to watch a movie in a mall. His wife had booked a cab for the return.
According to the police, the cab driver, identified as Ravi, objected to the family boarding the car without disclosing the OTP and asked them to step only after sharing the password. He also reportedly raised objection to the number of passengers and suggested that they should have booked a bigger car instead. As per reports, the infuriated Umendra got down from the car and slammed the door behind him.

Ravi, who lost his patience, came out of the car and allegedly threw his phone at Umendra. Following a short heated argument between the two, the driver started punching Umendra on his face till the latter fell unconscious. Umendra was then rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.
The driver, who tried to flee the scene, was arrested and a case has been registered against him. Ravi has been arrested on murder charges and an investigation is still underway, informed the police.
