'Love you forever dad': KK's daughter Taamara posts a heartfelt note

The daughter of Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK, the popular playback singer who suddenly died of a cardiac arrest, after performing at a concert in Kolkata on May 31, has posted a heart-rending note to her father on Instagram.

The 53-year-old KK was performing at Nazrul Manch, Kolkata, when he complained of uneasiness and was taken to his hotel where he reportedly collapsed.

KK was one of the most versatile singers of this generation and had a fan following across languages, geographical barriers and age groups. His magical voice had a youthful exuberance but he could also sing melancholic melodies, which went on to become the anthem for many young  lovers.

Sharing her father’s funeral details, KK’s daughter Taamara shared at the bottom: “Love you forever dad,” and added a heart emoji. Taamara’s Instagram profile says that she is also a singer, musician and producer. Her Insta account is full of videos of her with a microphone in her hand, or in the studio, composing and producing music.

KK was one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved playback singers. Questions are now being raised about the inadequate facilities at the indoor Nazrul Mancha venue. There was no proper ventilation and KK was reportedly sweating profusely on stage. In one video shared on social media, he is seen asking about the ventilation.

After the performance, which is said to have ended just before 9 pm, he was rushed off-stage immediately and taken to his hotel where he reportedly collapsed. The singer was brought to the hospital at around 10 pm, and was pronounced dead shortly after. A preliminary post-mortem report has now ruled out unnatural death.

His mortal remains were flown to Mumbai from Kolkata. After a final darshan, the funeral was held at Versova Crematorium in the afternoon. He is survived by his wife and two children.
