Even as the death toll due to violent clashes in northeast Delhi rose to 20, the body of an intelligence officer, was recovered from a drain near Chand Bagh area on Wednesday (February 26), reports said.
An NDTV report said, Ankit Sharma, the officer was returning home on Tuesday evening when he was attacked and beaten to death by a mob on the Chand Bagh bridge. The assaulters later dumped his body in a drain.
His father Ravinder Sharma, who works for Delhi Police, identified the body and also alleged that his son was shot after being beaten. He has accused the supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party of the murder.
Condoling the death of the IB officer, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet said, the culprits must not be spared.
