I make these people untie my shoelaces: Varun Gandhi on BSP’s Sultanpur candidate
BJP leader Varun Gandhi on Saturday (May 4), took a swipe at the Opposition’s candidate in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur constituency by stating that he gets such people to untie his shoelaces, ANI reported.
Gandhi is said to have made the comment against Bahujan Samaj Party’s candidate Chandra Bhadra Singh, known as Sonu Singh, while addressing an election rally on May 2. Sonu Singh, a former MLA and his brother Monu Singh are local strongmen, according to Navbharat Times.
“A person without dignity is a corpse. Don’t be scared of anyone. You should be scared of just one person – it is God. People should be scared of their sins, their crimes, not of any Sonu or Tonu. I am here for you. I am the son of Sanjay Gandhi. I get such people to untie my shoelaces,” he addressed to a cheering audience. The video has gone viral on social media platforms.
ABP News on May 3, reported that Varun earlier received complaints of the villagers being threatened and beaten up at the behest of Sonu and Monu Singh.
Varun, the current MP from Sultanpur constituency was campaigning for his mother Maneka Gandhi, who recently faced a 48-hour campaign ban from the Election Commission for intimidating voters at an election rally.
Polls in Sultanpur will be held on May 12 along with 13 other constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
