Rapper Hard Kaur booked for defamatory remarks against Yogi Adityanath
Hard Kaur, touted as India’s first female rapper, has been booked on sedition charges for allegedly posting objectionable remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on social media, police said on Thursday (June 20).
In a series of Facebook posts, Kaur, originally named Taran Kaur Dhillon, had put up posts criticising Adityanath and calling him “Orangerapeman”. The post read, “If this guy was a superhero his name would be-rapeman yogi. You call him when you want your sisters, mothers, daughters raped. National hero.”

In another post she slams RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, and calls him a murderer and supporter of caste system in India.
The police took up the matter based on a complaint filed by Shashank Shekhar, a lawyer from Lucknow on Wednesday against Kaur, SHO Cantonment Vijay Pratap Singh said.
Kaur has been booked under sections 124 A(sedition), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion), 500(defamation) and 505 (intent to incite) of the Indian Penal Code and section 66 of the IT Act, the police said.
The complaint will be forwarded to the cyber cell for further probe into the matter, the SHO said.
Hard Kaur is known for her hit songs like ‘Glassy’ and ‘Move Your Body’. She owns a music label called Future Records.
Earlier this month, while Prashant Kanaujia, a freelance journalist was arrested on charges of circulating videos on Adityanath on social media, three journalists – Ishika Singh, Anuj Shukla and Anshul Kaushik – of a TV channel were arrested for showing defamatory content against the UP chief minister.
