From PM Modi to Amitabh Bachchan, India mourns Irrfan Khan's death
Actor Irrfan Khan’s sudden demise has left a huge void in the Indian film industry. The unapologetically verstalile actor shattered several stereotypes such as flashy looks and pompous attitude, proving that all it takes to become a superstar is sheer talent, hard work, and humility. Major film stars and directors with whom Irrfan Khan closely worked with in the past have paid tributes to the actor.
Amitabh Bachchan, Shoojit Sircar, Priyanka Chopra, Taapsee Pannu, Raveena Tandon, and several other major personalities took to Twitter and other social media handles, to mourn the actor’s untimely death. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook are flooded with Irrfan Khan’s popular film quotes, dialogues, and pictures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were among those who condoled the death.

The 53-year-old actor was hospitalised on April 28, 2020, in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital due to colon infection. He was earlier battling neuroendocrine tumor for which he was taking treatment in the UK. The actor is survived by his wife, Sutapa Sikdar, and two sons, Ayan and Babil Khan.

Last seen in the Bollywood film Angrezi Medium, the actor was indisposed for a few months. His noted projects in the Indian film industry include stellar movies like Maqbool, Haider, Piku, Life of Pi, The Namesake, Slumdog Millionaire. The actor was a global icon as he had also worked in several international film projects like Spiderman, Inferno, The Warrior, and others.
