Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tests negative for COVID-19

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tested negative for COVID-19 on Tuesday (June 9), an official said.

The Chief Minister underwent a COVID-19 test in the morning after developing a sore throat and fever, which are considered the main symptoms of the coronavirus infection.

Kejriwal’s fever has now subsided and he is feeling better, the official added.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the 51-year-old Chief Minister’s fever had reduced and that the test report was expected soon. Kejriwal had not attended any official meeting since Sunday (June 8), and had opted for self-quarantine after developing a sore throat and mild fever.

The Chief Minister is expected to virtually join an all-party meeting underway at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s residence to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the national capital and measures necessary to contain the spread of the infection.

The meeting with the LG comes a day after Anil Baijal had overruled two controversial orders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government ― reserving the Delhi government-run and private hospitals for Delhiites, and allowing COVID-19 tests only for symptomatic patients.
