COVID-19: UP police stop wedding procession as groom, father test positive


A wedding procession was stopped midway and the wedding was called off after the groom and his father tested positive for COVID-19 in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh.

The wedding procession had left the Kamrauli village in Amethi on Friday (June 19) for Haidergarh in Barabanki where the wedding function was to take place. The groom’s family had come from the national capital to Amethi (UP) on June 15 and their samples were sent for COVID-19 testing.

On June 19, when the groom and his family were on their way for the wedding function, their test reports came in. As per the results, it was found that the groom and his father had tested positive for COVID-19.

The UP police were informed and the ‘baraat’ or wedding procession was stopped near the Inhauna intersection. The groom and his father were taken to a hospital by a health officers and 10 members of the family have now been quarantined.
