Canada's green card schemes to resume from July 6; process to be speeded up

Canada’s Permanent Residency (PR) programmes will resume in full swing when the all Express Entry draws are all set to reopen from July 6.

With this move, Canada will lift the last of the COVID-19 restriction on its immigration services. Immigration minister Sean Fraser took to Twitter to invite all eligible candidates to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) under Federal Skilled Worker programme, Federal Skilled Trades programme and Canadian Experience Class. Further, he noted in his tweet that newcomers continue to play a critical role in the success of the Canadian economy and Canada looks forward to resuming this important programme.

1.Federal Skilled Worker program
2.Federal Skilled Trades program

Canada is reportedly struggling with huge immigration processing delays and reportedly has an immigration backlog of almost 2.4 million people, as of June 6, 2022, according to a report in a business daily. In fact, a new task force was set up last month by the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau to tackle this problem.

Stating that service delays, particularly in the recent months, were unacceptable, PM Trudeau said that they will continue to do everything to improve the delivery of these services in an efficient and timely manner. And, this new task force is meant to guide the work of the government to better their services.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is also getting “more integrated, modernized and centralized working environment” to bolster application processing globally, said a report in Economic Times.
