Aryan Khan case: Govt orders action against ex-NCB officer Sameer Wankhede

Hours after Aryan Khan was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the ‘drugs-on-cruise’ case, the government on Friday asked the competent authority to take action against former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede for his alleged “shoddy work” while probing the case, official sources said.

Wankhede, who led the raid on the cruise boat, is an Indian Revenue Service officer and the finance ministry is the nodal authority to take the action against him.

Appropriate action is also being initiated against Wankhede for allegedly providing a fake caste certificate, they added.

Clean chit to Aryan

The NCB filed the chargesheet in the case on Friday (May 27) and charged 14 people, while there was no charge against six, including Aryan Khan, son of cine star Shahrukh Khan.

Aryan and 19 others had been arrested on October 3, 2021, during a raid by the NCB on a cruise boat party. He was kept in custody for more than 3 weeks. However, the NCB’s attempts to charge him based on WhatsApp chats failed and he had to be given bail.

Earlier, on being asked to comment on NCB’s clean chit to Aryan, Wankhede, told India Today that he had nothing to say on it. “Sorry, I can’t comment. I am not in the NCB, talk to NCB officials,” Wankhede told India Today.
