Protests by farmers against the contentious farm bills have rocked the country. The protests are intense in the agrarian states of Punjab and Haryana, where farmers argue that the new legislations will do away with the middleman, the government-fixed minimum support price and give an upper hand to corporates.
The bills were passed by President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday (September 27).
