All 645 evacuees from Wuhan test negative for coronavirus


The Union Health Ministry said on Thursday (February 6) that all 645 evacuees from Wuhan, China, have tested negative for Novel Coronavirus.

In addition, 510 samples had been tested by ICMR network laboratories of which all turned in negative results except for 3 already reported positive. The 3 positive cases in Kerala were clinically stable. As on February 6, 1.38 lakh passengers from 1,265 flights had been screened for novel coronavirus illness. Till now, no new case had been detected, sources said.

Community surveillance and contact tracing was being taken up by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) for 6,558 persons across 32 States/UTs. The fourth joint monitoring group (JMG) meeting was held on Thursday under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to discuss various technical issues including review period of follow up required for asymptomatic travellers from China.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, in coordination with various Ministries and all States/UTs, is taking adequate measures for management of the virus, a statement said.

The ministry said in case of fever, cough, and symptoms of pneumonia, people should seek medical attention immediately.
