Parshuram had paid his nephew Ankul and friend Beeran to kidnap the six-year-old and remove her lungs for an occult ritual, which he believed would help his wife give birth to a child, said police. Married in 1999, they did not have any child so far, he told the police.
ASP (Rural) Brajesh Srivastava said Ankul and Beeran, who were heavily drunk, abducted the minor girl while she had gone out of her home in Bhadras village on Saturday night to buy firecrackers. They took her to a nearby jungle, where they raped her before killing her.
Parshuram initially tried to mislead the police, but after facing intensive interrogation, he broke down and confessed to his crime, he added. The accused have been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
