Rohit Tiwari’s death unnatural, says autopsy report

Reports emerging in the media quoting the post-mortem report of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, 40, son of the late ND Tiwari, say that he died an unnatural death. Rohit Tiwari was probably smothered with a pillow, NDTV reported.

Rohit Tiwari died at his Delhi residence on Tuesday and he was pronounced ‘brought dead’ at a hospital. Hospital authorities had then stated that blood was oozing out of Rohit Shekhar’s nose when he was taken in. Family members had reportedly told the police that he was asleep when his wife, Apoorva, found his limbs had turned cold and numb. She then alerted the household help and the hospital. It was believed that he died due to a cardiac arrest.

The police said there were seven CCTV cameras at the residence of which two were in disrepair. Sources said he had gone to Uttarakhand to vote on April 12 and had returned on April 15. One of the CCCTVs had captured footage of him, apparently in a an inebriated state.

The police registered a case under section 302 of the IPC against ‘unknown persons’ in this regard and the investigation had been handed over to the crime branch, reports said.

Rohit had to fight a six-year-long battle in court to ensure prove that he was ND Tiwari’s son. ND Tiwari had even refused to turn up a blood sample for DNA test, in 2012. ND Tiwari was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
