INX media case: Chidambaram gets interim relief; no ED arrest till Monday
A day after a special court sent former finance minister P Chidambaram to CBI custody for five days, the Supreme Court on Friday has begun hearing his petition challenging the rejection of his plea for protection from arrest in the INX Media case.
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court denied to give Chidambaram anticipatory bail, following which he had approached the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing. He was arrested on Wednesday night by CBI sleuths amid high drama at his New Delhi residence, after lawyers failed to secure a bail for him and the hearing of the case was posted on Friday.
