Brazil prez Bolsonaro compares India's drug supply to Hanuman's act
Modi government’s latest move to lift export ban on hydrochloroquine is being lauded across the world. After US president Donald Trump, now, Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (April 8) for easing restrictions on export of drugs used to cure COVID-19.
In his letter to Modi, Bolsonaro compared the centre’s move to Lord Hanuman and Sanjeevani booti (herb) in the epic Ramayana. “Just as Lord Hanuman brought the holy medicine from the Himalayas to save the life of Lord Rama’s brother Laksmana, and Jesus healed those who were sick and restored the sight of Bartimeu, India and Brazil will overcome this global crisis,” he wrote.

It is interesting to note that the Brazilian President sent the letter on Hanuman Jayanti, the festival that marks the birth of Hanuman.
However, it is unsure whether Bolsonaro knows if Lord Hanuman was a simian (monkey).
India, which is the largest producer of the drug had banned the export of anti-malarial drug on March 25 to prioritise domestic requirement.
