World Cup final commentators’ panel named; 5 Indians included

Shastri will be at the coin toss when captains Rohit Sharma and Pat Cummins walk out to the middle with match referee Andy Pycroft.


The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday (November 18) announced the list of commentators for the World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia.

It will be India versus Australia final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (November 19).

With more the 1 lakh spectators set to watch the big game, former cricketers and experts commentate as live images will be beamed across the world.

Former India all-rounder and ex-coach of the national team, Ravi Shastri is part of the commentary panel for the World Cup 2023 final. Shastri will be at the coin toss when captains Rohit Sharma and Pat Cummins walk out to the middle with match referee Andy Pycroft.

The World Cup 2023 commentary panel consists of 15 members including five each from India and Australia.

Former New Zealand cricketer Ian Smith who called the final moments of the ICC World Cup 2019 between England and New Zealand at Lord’s is also part of the panel.

Smith called the final ball of that epic final which ended in a tie. England won the World Cup “by the barest of margins” was the famous line Smith said on commentary that day. England won on boundary count after both the final and the subsequent tie-breaker – Super Over ended in ties.
