Hardik Pandya ruled out of India vs New Zealand WC match in Dharamsala

"He will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on 20th October and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England," BCCI said.


India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the team's ICC World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand on Sunday (October 22) in Dharamsala. Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle during India's game against Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday (October 19).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday provided a medical update on Pandya and said the India vice-captain has been advised rest and won't travel to Dharamsala.

"Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.

"He will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on 20th October and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England," BCCI said.

India have been unbeaten so far in World Cup 2023 with four wins in a row.
