Hardik Pandya injured during India vs Bangladesh game, taken for scans

Pandya will not bowl and field for the rest of the Bangladesh innings at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was injured during the team's ICC World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday (October 19). He was being taken for scans and the injury will be assessed, said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"Hardik Pandya's injury is being assessed at the moment and he is being taken for scans," BCCI posted on X but did not specify what injury it was.

However, former England captain Nasser Hussain on commentary said it was a left ankle injury.

After Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first, Pandya was introduced into the attack in the ninth over of the innings. However, after bowling just three balls, he pulled out and received treatment on the ground. Later, he hobbled off the ground. Virat Kohli completed the over.

Pandya will not bowl and field for the rest of the Bangladesh innings.
