Probe into Ambani security scare: NIA seizes Innova car

The National Investigation Agency(NIA), which is probing the recovery of a vehicle laden withexplosives from outside industrialist Mukesh Ambanisresidence in Mumbai, on Sunday seized a white Innova car, apolice official said.

It is not clear if it was the same Innova that wasfollowing the explosives-laden Scorpio before the latter wasparked near Ambanis residence in south Mumbai on February 25.

According to the police official, the Innova, havingTardeo RTOs registration number MH 01 ZA 403 and Policewritten on its rear windshield, was brought to the NIAsoffice on Pedder Road here with the help of towing van, hoursafter the arrest of Mumbai police offier Sachin Waze inconnection with the case.

The NIA arrested Waze late Saturday night afterquestioning him for 12 hours over the recovery of theexplosive-laden Scorpio near Ambanis residence.

The Scorpio found parked near Ambanis house onCarmichael Road on February 25 contained some gelatin sticksand a threat letter.

Waze, an “encounter specialist”, is also facing heatin the murder case of Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiranwho was in possession of this Scorpio. Hiran was found dead ina creek in Thane district on March 5.

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) isinvestigating the Hiran murder case. It had registered an FIRagainst unidentified persons days after Hirans body wasfound.

Waze, accused by Hirans wife of involvement in herhusbands suspicious death, was shunted out of the Mumbaicrime branch a few days back.
