Odisha reports 378 new COVID-19 cases, 5 fresh fatalities

Odishas COVID-19 caseloadmounted to 3,19,103 on Tuesday as 378 more people testedpositive for the disease, while five fresh fatalities pushedthe states coronavirus death toll to 1,744, a health officialsaid.

As many as 219 new cases were reported in quarantinecentres, while 159 infections were detected during contacttracing, he said.

Angul district reported the highest number of newcases at 38, followed by Khurda (37) and Mayurbhanj (34), theofficial said.

Puri district registered three fresh fatalities andKhurda and Jagatsinghpur one each, he said.

Odisha now has 5,241 active coronavirus cases, while3,12,065 people have recovered from the disease to date.

Fifty-three COVID-19 patients have died ofcomorbidities so far, the official said.

The states positivity rate stands at 5.37 per cent,he said.

Odisha has so far tested over 59.4 lakh samples forCOVID-19, including 36,331 on Monday, the official added.
