Maha CM, Guv not to accompany PM during his SII visit in Pune


Maharashtra Governor B SKoshyariand Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will notaccompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to thePune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) on Saturday.

The Chief Ministers Office (CMO) said this in astatement.

“The chief minister and the governor will not be inPune as the Prime Ministers Office (PMO) has informed thattheir presence was not required since the prime Minister willbe there for a brief visit,” the statement said.

Modi began his three-city visit on Saturday to reviewcoronavirus vaccine development work by going to pharma majorZydus Cadilas manufacturing facility near Ahmedabad in themorning.

After Ahmedabad, the PM is scheduled to visit vaccinemaker Bharat Biotechs facility in Hyderabad, after which hewill proceed to Pune, where he will visit the SII, which haspartnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and the OxfordUniversity for the vaccine.

The prime minister is scheduled to reach the SerumInstitute campus around 4.30 pm.
