Lawyer seeks mask violation case against Raj Thackeray

An advocate in Aurangabad onSunday submitted an application to police demandingregistration of a complaint against Maharashtra Navnirman Senachief Raj Thackeray for mask violation amid the coronavirusoutbreak.

Advocate Ratnakar Choure, in his application, hasstated he saw a news programme that showed Thackeray travelingfrom Mumbai to Nashik without wearing a mask though it ismandatory to do so as per COVID-19 norms put in place by thestate and Central governments.

The application, which was submitted in Kranti Chowkpolice station, seeks that Thackeray be charged under relevantprovisions of Epidemic Diseases Act.

A Kranti Chowk police station official confirmed thereceipt of Choures application but said further action on itwould be decided by higher authorities in the force.
