Bengaluru model of development ensured city's top ranking in ease of living index: CM


The Bengaluru model of developmentof citizen-centric initiatives and delivery of services haveensured the top ranking for the city as the most liveableamong 111 cities in India in the Centres Ease of LivingIndex, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said on Thursday.

“Bengaluru has emerged as the most liveable city inIndia in the Ease of Living Survey conducted by the Ministryof Housing and Urban Affairs.The Bengaluru model ofdevelopment of citizen-centric initiatives and delivery ofservices have ensured the top ranking of Bengaluru,”Yediyurappas office tweeted.

Bengaluru was adjudged the most liveable among 111cities in India in the governments Ease of Living Index onThursday, followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, NaviMumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodra, Indore and Greater Mumbai.

According to the index released by Union Housing andUrban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Shimla topped thecategory of cities with population less than million.

Ease of Living Index is an assessment tool thatevaluates the quality of life and the impact of variousinitiatives for urban development, the centre has said.

A total of 32.2 lakh people residing across 111cities participated in a Citizen Perception Survey holding aweightage of 30 per cent.

Performance of the cities have been measured on fourbroad parameters governance and social, physical andeconomic infrastructure.
