Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Union minister Prakash Javadekar said on Tuesday (September 24).

“The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him,” the minister tweeted.

In a career lasting over five decades, the superstar is also the recipient of Padma Shri (1984), Padma Bhushan (2001) and Padma Vibhushan (2015).


Actor-politician Rajinikanth took to Twitter to congratulate Bachchan, “Congratulations dear Amitabh Bachchan ji. You richly deserve this commendable honour.
