Kannada actor does somersault on Goa beach, lands in hospital
Kannada actor Diganth Manchale was airlifted from Goa to Bengaluru and admitted to a hospital after suffering a neck injury while attempting a somersault on a beach.
According to reports, 38-year-old Diganth was on a holiday with his actress wife Aindrita Ray when the incident happened. He landed on his head while attempting a somersault on Monday.

He was admitted to Manipal Hospital on Old Airport Road, Bengaluru on Tuesday (June 21). Doctors have said it is a “sports injury”.
“Kannada cinestar Diganth Manchale is admitted to Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, post a sports injury he suffered. He is undergoing further evaluation. The medical team is taking all care to ensure his speedy recovery. We will release further updates on his clinical condition for his well-wishers,” said Dr. Shankar BC, Head, Medical Services, Manipal Hospital, was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
The actor is recovering well and is likely to be discharged today (June 22), according to the hospital. “Diganth is recovering well and will possibly be discharged on Wednesday,” Manipal Hospital said in a statement.
Aindrita’s father A K Ray told The Times of India on Tuesday, “Yesterday, in Goa, he was doing some sports activity. He was on the trampoline and suddenly he fell on his back. It’s a bit serious (injury) as there is a dislocation of the cervical vertebra. His fingers started numbing and since they didn’t have the proper equipment (to treat him) they thought they will shift him to Bangalore.”
“But it was not advisable to shift him to Bangalore in this condition. I believe there was some arrangement by the Goa government and they arranged special aircraft for them. They are now on the way to Bangalore right now. They will land at the HAL airport and straight away shift him to Manipal. they will see the condition and most probably do the surgery today itself or tomorrow morning,” he added.
Diganth, a former model, made his acting debut in Sandalwood in 2006 with Miss California. He had also done a cameo in the blockbuster Mungaru Male in 2006.
He became popular with the movie Gaalipata in 2008. The sequel to it – Gaalipata 2 is set for release in August.
