Kangana starts shoot on Jayalalithaa biopic, gives viewers a peek into sets
Actor Kangana Ranaut, who would be donning the role of Tamil Nadu’s former chief minister J Jayalalithaa in her next Thalaivi, on Monday (October 5) gave viewers a peek into the sets of the film.
“Good morning friends, these are some stills from yesterday’s early morning scene discussion with my absolutely talented and most affectionate director AL Vijay ji, there are many amazing places in this world but the most soothing and comforting to me is a film set #Thalaivi,” Kangana tweeted, sharing a few behind the scenes shots of her with director AL Vijay.

The shoot for the bilingual film started on Sunday, after a hiatus of seven months.
“Dear friends today is a very special day, resuming work after 7 months, travelling to southern India for my most ambitious bilingual project THALAIVI, need your blessings in these testing times of a pandemic,” Kangana tweeted on October 1.

A teaser of the film released in November last year, showing Kangana in prosthetics had evoked mixed reactions from audience with many calling it a botched-up look, triggering a spate of memes on social media. The makers released a much realistic poster on February 24 on the 72nd birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa.
The film which will map the journey of Jayalalithaa – from her childhood, to her stint in films to becoming a consummate politician – seeks to portray the lesser known aspects of the leader’s life.
Actor Arvind Swami will be seen in the role of Jayalalithaa’s political mentor MG Ramachandran.
The film will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
