Modi’s assets grow by 10% to touch ₹2.5 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assets worth ₹2.5 crore, including a residential plot in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar. He had fixed deposits of ₹1.27 crore and ₹38,750 cash in hand, reports quoting his election affidavit said. This is an increase of approximately 10% over the 2014 assets of 1.65 crore.

On the education front, the affidavit said Prime Minister Narendra Modi earned an MA from Gujarat University in 1983 and graduated in Arts from Delhi University 1978. The affidavit was part of the nomination Narendra Modi filed from Varanasi on Friday (April 26). The Prime Minister’s movable assets nearly tripled to ₹1.41 crore this time. It was ₹51 lakh in 2014.

Modi named Jashodaben as his wife and the affidavit says he passed SSC exam from the Gujarat board in 1967. Modi listed ‘salary from government’ and ‘interest from bank’ as his sources of income, his wife’s source of income is mentioned as ‘not known.’

Modi has declared that he neither has any criminal case pending against him nor has any government dues on him.

Investments

The PM said in the affidavit that he had invested ₹20,000 in tax saving infra bonds; ₹7.61 lakh in National Saving Certificate (NSC); and another ₹1.9 lakh in LIC policies. Modi had four gold rings, weighing 45 grams, valued at ₹1.13 lakh. Asset details are a mandatory requirement for filing nomination papers.
