Celebrities are used to dealing with social media trolls. While most of them ignore, there are some who hit back in their own way. The latest in this list is former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes.

Recently, Rhodes, who is known for his exceptional fielding skills, posted a photo of himself on X (Twitter) enjoying a meal in Bengaluru after taking the advice of his taxi driver at the Kempegowda International Airport.

In the picture, the South African is seen enjoying Mangalore Buns and Masala Dosa and there is another person seated across the table.

“When taxi driver at Bengaluru airport suggested to stop at his favourite restaurant for a roadside bite, because according to him: "traffic will be standing!" Grateful I took his advice. Excellent #mangalorebun and #Mysoremasaldosa, finished off with #masalachai #loveIndia (sic),” Rhodes wrote along with the picture.

An X user assumed that the man sitting at the table with Rhodes is his taxi driver and accused the South African of not sharing a meal with him.

“You could have ordered something for your taxi driver. Being Celebrity doesn’t give Class,” the user replied to Rhodes’ post.

To this, Rhodes hit back at him with the hashtag #shameonyou and clarified that the man sitting with him at the table was a stranger and not his taxi driver.

“I have been sitting on this reply for a couple of days. The gentleman at my table is a stranger to me, and my driver was taking the picture. He did not eat, just ordered for me some of his favourite food. He just had tea, and yes, I did pay for it #shameonyou (sic),” Rhodes said.

The post has so far received more than 1,000 replies and garnered over 1.4 million views.

There were many Indian X users who came to Rhodes’ support and asked him to ignore online trolls.

“Sir you are a legend and please don’t pay attention to these online trolls,” an X user wrote.

“One should not comment without knowing the complete truth. It's not required to have an opinion on everything,” posted another.

“Sorry you had to explain it. It is better to ignore these anonymous trolls who write provocatively only to garner eyeballs and game the social media algo. More power, peace to you,” said another user.

A person wondered if someone would question Rhodes for not offering food to a stranger!

“Waiting for someone to ask why Jonty didn't offer food to a total stranger,” a netizen wrote.
