This is the highest total in T20Is by a Test-playing nation and overall second-highest in T20I history. India eclipsed Afghanistan's previous highest total of 278/3 against Ireland. However, the highest-ever T20I score is 314/3, achieved by Nepal against Mongolia during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on September 27, 2023.

India's previous best in T20Is was 260/5 against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Leading India's charge was opening batsman Sanju Samson, who brought up his maiden T20I ton. His innings included five consecutive sixes.
Samson scored a 40-ball hundred and his superb innings ended at 111 off 47 balls with 11 fours and eight sixes.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav was the other major contributor with a 35-ball 75 with eight fours and five sixes.
Samson and Suryakumar added 173 runs off just 61 balls for the second wicket.
