Argentina break multiple T20I records after scoring 427/1 in 20 overs

The score of 427 by Argentine women is the highest-ever in T20I cricket, both men and women categories included.

Apart from this highest total, Argentina also won the match by a world record 364 runs.

Batting first, Argentina posted 427/1 in 20 overs thanks to openers Lucia Taylor (169 off 84, 27 fours) and Albertina Galan (145, 84 balls, 23 fours), smashing record hundreds.

Chile bowled 64 no balls and eight wides. However, the bowlers did not concede a single six while there were 57 fours.

The most expensive Chile bowler was Constanza Oyarce who conceded 92 runs in four overs without taking a wicket. Florencia Martinez who bowled only one over, went for 52 runs.

Taylor and Galan added a T20I record partnership of 350 in just 16.5 overs at the Maurice Runnacles Oval in the St Albans Club.

In reply to Argentina's mammoth score, Chile were bowled out for just 63 in 15 overs. The highest score was 27 by Jessica Miranda.

The previous highest T20I record was held by Bahrain women who had scored 318/1 against Saudi Arabia in 2022.

In the International Cricket Council's (ICC) women's T20I rankings, Argentina is ranked last, 66th while Chile is not ranked yet as they have not played enough matches. Chile were playing for the first time since 2019.
