BJP minister in MP flouts norms, meets supporters ahead of bypolls
The central government’s strict guidelines on social distancing seem to have eluded a few politicians including state cabinet ministers. The latest to have thrown caution to the wind is BJP leader Govind Singh Rajput, also a minister in the Madhya Pradesh cabinet, who was seen addressing a gathering of followers at a recent meeting in Rahatgarh town.
In the video shared by NDTV, Rajput flanked by a group of supporters – most of them without face masks – is seeing chanting ‘Bharatiya Janta Party, zindabad zindabad’ on camera.

Singh was one of the ministers who had defected to the BJP last year along with 21 others of the Jyotiraditya Scindia camp, effecting the fall of the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh.
According to NDTV, Rajput was visiting the Surkhi constituency of Rahatgarh to which he may be the prospective BJP candidate for the upcoming bypolls.
In a similar incident on Saturday, BJP’s Madhya Pradesh vice president and former MLA Sudarshan Gupta was booked after he took part in a relief programme to mark the birthday of Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar in Indore.
