ED summons Rajasthan CM Gehlot's son Vaibhav in FEMA case

Vaibhav has been asked to depose before the federal agency's office either in Jaipur or in New Delhi on October 27

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot for questioning in a case related to alleged contravention of the foreign exchange law, official sources said on Thursday (October 26).

According to the sources, Vaibhav has been asked to depose before the federal agency's office either in Jaipur or in New Delhi on Friday.

The summons are linked to the recent ED raids against Rajasthan based hospitality group Triton Hotels and Resorts Pvt. Ltd., Vardha Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. and its directors and promoters Shiv Shankar Sharma, Rattan Kant Sharma and others.

The agency had searched the group and its promoters for three days in August at locations in Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai and Delhi.

Rattan Kant Sharma's alleged links with Vaibhav Gehlot are allegedly under the scanner of the ED and it is expected to question and record his statement under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Unaccounted cash of ₹1.2 crore was seized by the ED after these searches.

BJP does not want people to reap benefits of Cong govt: Gehlot

On Thursday, the ED conducted raids on Congress state unit president Govind Singh Dotasara and independent MLA Om Prakash Hudla in the paper leak case pertaining to the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher 2021.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Gehlot hinted that BJP was behind the ED summons to his son and the raids on Dotasara just when the state was gearing up for assembly polls.

"Date 25/10/23 Congress launches guarantees for women of Rajasthan. Date 26/10/23 ED raid on Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Ji Dotasara, Summons to my son Vaibhav Gehlot to appear in ED. Now you can understand what I have been saying that ED's Red Rose is happening inside Rajasthan because BJP does not want that women, farmers and poor in Rajasthan should get the benefit of the guarantees given by Congress", Gehlot said on X.
