Bulletproof vehicles, highly paid bodyguard, Y+ cover: What's the cost of Salman’s security?

Salman had purchased and imported a bulletproof car from the UAE last year as well, when he and his father, Salim Khan, received death threats from the Bishnoi gang for the first time

Though the government agencies have already stepped up Salman Khan’s security in the aftermath of Baba Siddique’s murder in Mumbai last week, the megastar has also bought a bulletproof Nissan Patrol SUV worth Rs 2 crore.

The actor, who has been on the radar of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for quite some time now, has received a fresh death threat, days after the murder of NCP (AP) leader and his friend Baba Siddique.

Since the car is not available in the Indian market, the star is reportedly getting it imported from Dubai. Apart from the car’s price of around Rs 2 crore, it is estimated that a significant amount will be spent to get the car to India quickly.

Advanced safety features

According to the specifications of the car available online, the SUV boasts several advanced safety features, such as explosive alert indicators, thick glass shields to prevent point-blank bullet shots, and camouflage black shades to prevent the driver or passenger from being identified.

Notably, this won’t be his first bulletproof car. Salman had purchased and imported a bulletproof car from the UAE last year as well, when he and his father, Salim Khan, received death threats from the Bishnoi gang for the first time.

Highly-paid bodyguard

Aware of the threats, the actor has been spending quite a lot to ensure his security as well as that of his family members. Apart from these bulletproof cars, Salman has one of the most highest-paid bodyguards in the film industry in the form of Gurmeet Singh Jolly, better known as Shera, who has been with the actor for almost three decades now. Shera takes around Rs 15 lakh a month, which is nearly Rs 2 crore annually.

Earlier, more personnel were added to Salman’s security a day after gunshots were heard outside his home in Mumbai in April this year. He already had two personal security officers (PSO), two commandos, two escort vehicles and 11 cops under Y+ category security. Three more cops and one PSO were subsequently added to his team. Unconfirmed reports said the cost of this security is about Rs 15 lakh per month. For a year, it costs nearly Rs 2 crore.

60 personnel on Bigg Boss shoot

Meanwhile, Salman returned to shoot for Bigg Boss on Friday amid heavy security. This was the first time since last week that he returned to work after Baba Siddique was murdered. The responsibility for Siddique's murder has been taken by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang even as police continue to probe the case.

As per media reports, several stringent security measures have been implemented on the Bigg Boss set, with over 60 personnel deployed to safeguard the area. Access to the premises has also been restricted. The guards have been told to check the Aadhar card before allowing any individual inside the compound.

In a related development, Mumbai police's WhatsApp number recently received a threat for Salman Khan where the actor was asked to pay Rs 5 crore. “Don't take it lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and wants to end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, then he will have to pay Rs 5 crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan's condition will be worse than Baba Siddique,” the sender claimed, reported ANI.

Security up at residence, farmhouse

Security has also been increased at actor Salman Khan's house after Baba Siddique’s murder. Nearly a dozen cops have been deployed outside the Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where Salman and his parents live.

According to sources, the local police station of any area Salman Khan will visit for a shoot will be alerted regarding his whereabouts, and a police team will monitor the shooting location.

Security has also been beefed up at Salman Khan's farmhouse in Maharashtra's Panvel. Additional security personnel have been deployed inside and outside the farmhouse, sources said.

Besides, barricades have been put up by the Navi Mumbai Police in many places so that vehicles moving around the farmhouse can be checked. There is only one road that leads to the farmhouse, and it passes through a village.

In June this year, the Mumbai police foiled a plan to kill Salman Khan near the farmhouse. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had planned to kill Khan near his farmhouse by stopping his car and shooting him with AK-47 rifles.
