Actor claims ‘FASTag scam’ on Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link

Ashwin Mushran said that despite a Rs 3,000 balance in his sister’s FASTag account, they were forced to pay a Rs 200 “penalty”

Actor Ashwin Mushran has claimed a FASTag “scam” and alleged that he was incorrectly charged a toll penalty while travelling on Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Mushran, who is popular for his roles in Munna Bhai movies, alleged that he was made to pay Rs 200 “penalty” after the toll booth operator claimed there was “zero balance” in the FASTag account of his sister’s car.

He took to Instagram to post about the “scam” and explained he was travelling in his sister’s car from Bandra to South Mumbai when the alleged incident happened.

Number to call for FASTag issues

He said that despite a Rs 3,000 balance in his sister’s FASTag account, they were forced to pay a Rs 200 “penalty”. And during their return journey, the actor said the car “sailed through”.

Later, Mushran said they went to the toll office to raise a dispute and they were told by officials that they would “investigate and there is a process”. After this, they went to the toll booth where they paid the penalty and showed the message of Rs 3,000 balance in FASTag, following which the official handed them back their Rs 200.

The actor said if they start collecting Rs 200 as “penalty” 50 times a day, they would make Rs 10,000. And asked motorists to be alert.

He advised toll road users not to “get scammed” and to take a screenshot of the FASTag balance. For any issues, he urged them to call 7039586803.

What happens if there is zero balance in FASTag account

If your FASTag has insufficient or zero balance, the scanner at the toll booth displays "Insufficient Balance" or "Blacklisted" and a red light beep warning is sounded.

To avoid getting on the blacklist, a minimum balance of about Rs 100 is needed, as per banks that provide FASTags.
