Police said principal Govind Natt, who used to take the girl to school in his car, allegedly choked her to death, after she fought his attempts to rape her

A six-year-old girl from Gujarat's Dahod district, who used to take a ride with her principal to school every day, was killed by him after she resisted his attempts to sexually assault her.

The state education minister Kuber Dindor, calling it a "shameful incident", had been following up the case of the murder of the six-year-old Class 1 student, which had caused panic..

According to the police, investigations into the murder revealed that principal Govind Natt, who used to take the girl to school in his car, allegedly choked the Class I student to death, after she fought his attempts to sexually assault her. Later, he dumped her body in the school's compound and her bag and shoes near the classroom.

The heinous murder

The police told the media that the six-year-old girl's body was found on the school’s premises on Thursday evening. This sparked off panic in the area.

A case was registered and the police formed 10 teams to investigate the murder. The post-mortem had revealed that she was suffocated to death. The girl's mother told the police that she travelled to school everyday with the principal, Govind Natt.

The principal had told the cops that he had dropped off the girl at the school gates and left for some work and had not seen her after that.

But the police traced his telephone location and found that he had arrived late at the school on that day. On being grilled by the police, the principal admitted to the crime.

As usual, he had picked up the girl from her home at around 10.20 am but she never arrived at the school. On the way, the principal tried to sexually assault her, and the girl started shouting, after which the principal choked the girl to stop her from shouting. He drove to school and locked the car leaving her body in the car for the entire day.

POCSO Act

Around 5 pm, he dumped the body behind the school building and planted her school bag and shoes outside her classroom. The 55-year-old Natt, who has been arrested, faces stringent charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Meanwhile, minister Kuber Dindor said that he had been "pained" by this murder.

"We were following this up for three days. We had told police to get to the bottom of this. The principal has been arrested. I condemn this incident and we will take steps to ensure such crimes are not repeated."
