Hyderabad Muslim youth called ‘Pakistani’ as police watch during apartment clash

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The boy's family also alleged that they were called "Pakistanis and come here to plant bombs"


A controversy has erupted at an apartment complex in Hyderabad, Telangana, after a young resident was called “Pakistani” by a man in the presence of police. The video of the incident has now gone viral.

According to reports, it all started with an argument at Janapriya Lakefront Apartments in Kapra, under the Malkajgiri commissionerate zone, on Thursday (June 18).

‘I am an Indian’

In the video shared on social media platform X (Formerly Twitter), a man calls the young resident “Pakistani” and he confronts him even as police personnel and other residents watch.

The video shows the youngster asking the man, who is reportedly a society committee member of the apartment complex, “How can you call me a Pakistani? What proof do you have? Don’t call me Pakistani, I am an Indian.”

The man retorts, “Why are you staying here?” The youth also tells the man, “My grandfather served as a subedar in the Indian Army.”

Allegations of ‘planting bombs’

Later, the man is heard saying, “He is doing illegal activities. Yes, he is an illegal”.

In the background, a woman from the boy’s family says, “They are saying we are Pakistanis and have come here to plant bombs.”

"We are Muslims, and they are branding us as Pakistanis, which is wrong. Police are also not doing anything," the boy’s family members, who recorded the video, said.

"They are calling us Pakistanis in front of the police and the police is not doing anything," the young man said.

According to reports, quoting police, the matter escalated after the Muslim family had not paid rent and maintenance charges. The police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
