Vijay’s political entry 'highly beneficial' to INDIA Bloc: Congress
Vijay has declared that his party TVK would contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections
In its first reaction to Tamil actor Vijay’s entry into politics, Congress said it would benefit the INDIA alliance.
Vijay, the founder of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), addressed his maiden political rally last Saturday (October 27) and spelled out his agenda.

Reacting to Vijay’s speech and whether his entry would make any change in the political arena, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) said it wouldn’t change but would be “highly beneficial” to the INDIA bloc.
“It won’t change. His political journey will be highly beneficial for the victory of the INDIA bloc,” TNCC President K Selvaperunthagai said on Friday (November 1).

Selvaperunthagai, however, did not go into the details of how Vijay’s political entry would be beneficial to the INDIA alliance.
When asked about the power-sharing idea floated by Vijay and the effect it would have been having in the ruling DMK-led alliance, he said, “It might have caused ripples for those who are oscillating. But the INDIA bloc remains strong.”
“The Congress shared power at the Centre between 2004 and 2014. On that basis, we agree with the idea of power-sharing. But the final call on power sharing will be taken by the national leadership,” he added.
Vijay, while speaking in front of a massive crowd at TVK’s first state conference at Vikiravandi village in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district, had declared that his party would contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
He said he would fight against separatists and corrupt politicians. His ideological enemy would be separatists and his political enemy would be a political party (DMK) that talks about the Dravidian model and yet continues to engage in dynastic politics.
