Actor Gautami quits BJP over 'lack of support' from party during personal crisis
Gautami, who has been with BJP for 25 long years, has accused BJP leadership of actively supporting a man, who allegedly betrayed her trust and swindled her of her earnings
Actress turned politician Gautami Tadimalla, who has been with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for 25 long years, has resigned from the party in “great pain and sorrow” on Monday (October 23). She has cited “lack of support” from the party leadership during a personal crisis, said reports.
In a letter dated October 23, Tadimalla, who is a long-time member of the BJP, revealed the party and leaders failed to come to her aid, when she is going through a crisis in her life. According to her, several members of the party have actively supported an individual, one C Alagappan, who she claims betrayed her trust and allegedly cheated her of her life earnings.
Tadimalla, who was a popular leading lady in south films in the 80s and 90s, wrote in her letter that Alagappan had approached her around 20 years ago when she was vulnerable and isolated. She had lost both her parents and had become an orphan and wasalso a single mother with an infant child.
“He insinuated himself and his family into my life under the guise of a caring elder person. It was in this situation around 20 years ago that I entrusted him with the sale and documents of several of my lands, and it was just recently that I discovered he had defrauded me of the same,” she wrote, adding that all the while he had been pretending to welcome her and her daughter as a part of his family.
Though, she should hve been at the point in her life when her daughter and she should have been settled, safe and secure, yet, she found to her horror Alagappan had swindled her of her money, property and documents.
In her letter, Tadimalla stated that she had followed the legal processes of the country and filed multiple complaints but she found the “process has been inexplicably dragging on”.
Tadimalla went on to accuse several BJP senior members of “enabling Mr. Alagappan in dodging justice and absconding since the last 40 days even after the FIRs have been filed.” There was a “complete lack of support” from the BJP, she alleged.
However, the actor turned politician said that she hoped her Chief Minister, “my police department and my judicial system” will prevail and give her the justice that she seeks. Further, she concluded that she is writing this letter of resignation in great pain and sorrow, but with very firm resolve. “I am fighting for justice for myself and my child's future as a lone woman and a single parent,” she concluded.
