Bengaluru: Drunk 20-year-old loses control of speeding Mercedes, runs over woman
The accused, Dhanush Paramesh, the son of a local businessman, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody
A 20-year-old man, allegedly drunk, ran over a 30-year-old woman while speeding in a Mercedes Benz in Bengaluru on Saturday evening (November 2).
The culprit, identified as Dhanush Paramesh, is the son of a local businessman, Paramesh, the owner of a private bus travel company in Bengaluru, according to a report by HT.
Dhanush, a student, was driving his father’s recently-acquired luxury car with a friend for company. Both of them reportedly had been drinking at a mall in Yeshwanthpur before taking the car for a drive on Mysuru Road.

As they approached the Kengeri traffic transit management centre at about 6.45 pm, Dhanush failed to notice a speed breaker and lost control of the vehicle. The speeding car hit the victim, Sandhya, who was crossing the road. People who were at the scene of the accident detained Dhanush, the driver of the car, and handed him over to the police.
The Kengeri traffic police arrested Dhanush and placed him under judicial custody. He was taken to Bengaluru Central Prison where he has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

“An alcometre test of the accused driver showed that he had 177 mg/100 ml of blood alcohol content, which was much higher than the legally permissible limit of 30 mg/100 ml,” said a police officer.
The accused faces charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
