Tent cities coming up to house devotees in Ayodhya for consecration

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the Ayodhya Development Authority are setting up these cities, said the UP government


Several tent cities are coming up in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to house the thousands of devotees who will throng the town to witness the consecration of a grand Ram temple on January 22. The tent cities in Ayodhya will house nearly 80,000 people in all.

The Uttar Pradesh government said the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the Ayodhya Development Authority are setting up the tent cities.

The tent city in Majha Guptar Ghat will be built over 20 acres and can accommodate 20,000-25,000 devotees, an official statement quoting the Ayodhya Development Authority secretary Satyendra Singh said.

A facility near Brahmakund in Ayodhya Dham will have 35 large tents and will have amenities for about 30,000 devotees. A tent city in Bagh Bijesi, being built over 25 acres, will accommodate some 25,000 people.

Satyendra Singh said similar facilities will be set up in Karsevak Puram and Maniram Das Cantonment.

Arrangements for mattresses and blankets will be made as the event will take place during winter, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the ceremony on January 22, 2024. RSS chief Mohan Baghwat will also be present at the event.
