Agra floods: Taj Mahal dome leaks due to heavy rain; ASI says no damage

Agra has witnessed incessant rain for the past three days, which has caused water logging in most parts of the city

Incessant rainfall over the last three days has caused water leakage in the main dome of the Taj Mahal, resulting in flooding in one of its gardens. After spotting signs of moisture, an official initially suspected a hairline crack in the Taj Mahal's main dome. In response to the reported water leakage, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which oversees the maintenance of historical monuments, put its staff on high alert to monitor the situation closely.

The 17th-century mausoleum, which is both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was thoroughly inspected using drone cameras, according to Rajkumar Patel, Superintending Archaeologist of the Agra Circle.

Talking about the leakage, Patel said, "Yes, we have witnessed the leakage in the main dome of the Taj Mahal. After that when we checked it was due to seepage and there was no damage to the main dome. We have checked the main dome through a drone camera."
