J&K | Three army personnel injured as two separate encounters underway
Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed multiple gunfights and terrorist attacks in recent weeks, resulting in the deaths of several terrorists and security personnel
Three Indian Army personnel were injured during an ongoing encounter in a remote forest area in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday (November 10), an official said.
The encounter broke out in Keshwan forests when the joint search parties of the Army and police intercepted hiding terrorists around 11 am, they said. They said the operation in the forests of Kuntwara and Keshwan was going on since Thursday evening following killing of two village defence guards.
“Encounter begins at Keswan-Kishtwar between terrorists and security forces. Three or four terrorists believed to be trapped,” a police spokesperson said. The official said this was the same group of terrorists who killed the two innocent villagers.

Heavy exchange of fire is going on between the two sides and further details are awaited, the officials said.
Terrorists trapped
Meanwhile, another encounter broke out near Srinagar, marking the latest in a series of attacks that have rocked Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks.
Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in an encounter with security forces in Zabarwan forest area on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Sunday, officials said. The gunfight started around 9 am in the forest area connecting Dachigam and upper reaches of Nishat area, they said.
The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the area following information about presence of terrorists there. A senior official said there have been positive sighting of two to three terrorists in the area.
“However, due to the difficult terrain, the exact location is not noted. Some shots were fired on our troops as well. The cordon has been intensified and we are hopeful that militants will be tracked and neutralised,” said Central Kashmir DIG Rajiv Pandey.

A terrorist was killed and a few others were trapped in an encounter with security forces in Sopore on Saturday. The security forces were on a search operation when the terrorists fired at them. In the retaliatory firing, one of the terrorists was killed.
In another terrorist attack on Friday, two Village Defence Group (VDG) members were abducted and killed in Kishtwar.
In view of the increased terrorist activities, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the prevailing security situation in Kathua district on Saturday.
