Gurugram: Air hostess alleges sexual assault while on ventilator; ‘2 nurses were in room’
Medanta Hospital, in whose Gurugram branch the alleged incident occurred, has said it is cooperating with probe, and at this stage, no allegations have been substantiated
Medanta Hospital on Wednesday (April 16) said it is fully cooperating with the probe into the alleged sexual assault of an air hostess during treatment at its branch in Gurugram.
“We have been made aware of a complaint from a patient and have been fully cooperating with the investigations conducted by the relevant authorities,” the hospital said in a statement.
‘No allegations have been substantiated’
“At this stage, no allegations have been substantiated, and all relevant documents, including CCTV footage from the hospital for the time period in question, have been handed over to the police,” it added.

The hospital’s statement came after the 46-year-old victim lodged a complaint with police alleging that she was sexually assaulted at the hospital’s branch in Gurugram while she was on the ventilator in the ICU.
An FIR has been filed based on the woman’s complaint and police are examining CCTV footage of the hospital to identify the perpetrator.
Abused in ICU
According to police, the woman was admitted to the hospital after she fell ill following a swim in the pool of a hotel she was staying in.
On April 5, she was admitted to the private hospital in Gurugram, from where she was discharged on April 13, she said in her complaint.
"On April 6, I was on a ventilator when some hospital staff sexually assaulted me," the complaint read.
A resident of West Bengal, the woman had come to the city to attend a workshop by the airline operator.

After being discharged, she told her husband about the incident and then approached the police.
‘Two nurses were in room’
In her complaint, the woman has also claimed that two nurses were present in the room when the assault happened but didn’t intervene to stop it, Times of India reported.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against unidentified staff members of the hospital at Sadar police station on Monday, police said.

"The victim's statement has been recorded before the magistrate in the court. The police team is examining the footage of the hospital's CCTV cameras and will soon identify the accused," a Gurugram Police spokesperson told PTI.
A probe is underway, and the accused will be arrested soon, the spokesperson added.
