Domestic worker Rahul Meena is now accused of raping a neighbour in Rajasthan’s Alwar before travelling to Delhi, where he allegedly raped and murdered the 22‑year‑old daughter of an IRS officer, his former employer, according to the police.

The two incidents occurred within a span of 12 hours.

Police said Meena entered his neighbour’s home in Alwar around 10.30 pm on Tuesday (April 21) , where he allegedly overpowered and assaulted her. He allegedly covered her mouth, and threw her to the floor before committing rape. He also bit the victim at several places on her body.

He later warned her that if she informed anyone, he would kill her along with her husband and children. An FIR was registered by Alwar Police based on the victim’s complaint.

Delhi crime

By the next morning, Meena had reached Delhi. CCTV footage shows him entering a housing society in Amar Colony at 6.39 am and heading to his former employer’s flat. He left the house around 7.30 am.

When the victim’s parents returned from the gym at 8 am, they found their daughter, a UPSC aspirant, dead and in a pool of blood with severe injuries. Her clothes were torn, and she was found naked from the waist down.

Investigators believe Meena attacked her in her rooftop study room, covered her mouth, strangling her and striking her with household objects before committing sexual assault. After which, he then attempted to open a locker using her finger, later breaking into it with a screwdriver to steal cash and jewellery.

Before fleeing, he changed into clothes belonging to the victim’s brother.

Police investigation

Delhi Police formed 15 teams to track the suspect. CCTV footage revealed him entering the complex in one outfit and leaving an hour later in another.

Leads from the footage helped trace the auto‑rickshaw he boarded, and the driver directed police to a hotel where Meena was arrested.

It was learnt that Meena had previously worked for the victim’s family but was dismissed after they discovered his betting habits and financial misconduct. Investigators say he often misused money given for errands, taking goods on credit instead of paying shopkeepers.

For example, he would take money from the family to buy medicines but would not pay the shopkeeper, instead taking the medicines on credit. When the family found out, they dismissed him.

Police have registered a case of rape, murder, and robbery. Confirmation of sexual assault awaits medical examination results.
