Delhi minor allegedly raped, blackmailed with videos of the act; man arrested
The accused allegedly raped the girl in April 2025, recorded the act and later threatened to circulate videos and photographs, police said
New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) A man was arrested in connection with the alleged rape and blackmail of a minor girl in central Delhi's South Avenue area, an official said on Thursday.
The accused, aged around 30 years, had allegedly sexually assaulted the girl when she was a minor in April 2025, police said.
They said the woman, who is now an adult, has alleged that the accused had sent videos of the act to the man with whom her marriage was fixed, following which the engagement broke.
The accused allegedly continued to blackmail and threaten the girl using videos and photographs, according to the FIR.
A senior police officer said the sexual assault had taken place when the woman was a minor and, accordingly, provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been invoked.
According to the FIR, the girl lived with her parents in South Avenue area, where the accused was her neighbour.
She alleged that the accused raped her on the first floor of her house in April last year and recorded the incident. He then allegedly used the recording to threaten and blackmail her and coerce her into repeated sexual acts, police said.
The woman further alleged that after she returned to her village, the accused continued contacting her and threatened to circulate the videos and photographs.
Police said the woman's medical examination has been conducted at Lady Hardinge Medical College hospital.
An FIR was registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act in September, and the accused was arrested. PTI
