Bihar man shoots at family returning from Chhath Puja over 'love affair', 2 dead, 4 injured

A police officer Choudhary was furious that the woman was reported married to him for four or five years ago but left him to marry another man from the village.


In a love triangle gone wrong, a man shot dead two members of a family in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district including a woman he was married to earlier.

Police said Ashish Choudhary was on the run after reportedly shooting at a group of family members, leaving four others injured, two of them critically, in Punjab Mohalla on Monday morning.

The victims were returning from a Chhath Puja.

Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar said: "The matter is related to a love affair.”

The police said Choudhary was married to one of the injured and was among the two rushed to a Patna government hospital.

A police officer said Choudhary was furious that the woman who was reportedly married to him four or five years ago left him to marry another man.

Two persons have been detained for questioning. Media reports said the police have recovered the murder weapon.

According to the police, the woman at the target of the attack had travelled from Patna for Chhath Puja and to get engaged.
