Modi visits Birsa Munda's birthplace, pays floral tribute to 25-foot-tall statue of tribal icon at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park-cum-Freedom Fighter Museum


Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people of Jharkhand on the occasion of the state's formation day on Wednesday (November 15). He stressed on the courage, valor, and pride of Jharkhand's tribal population, in addition to its abundant mineral resources.

"My family members from Jharkhand have made significant contribution to the country's progress," he said on X, wishing the eastern state a bright future.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Jharkhand on Tuesday evening.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid floral tributes to tribal icon Birsa Munda in Ranchi on his birth anniversary.

He paid floral tributes to the 25-foot-tall statue of the icon at the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park-cum-Freedom Fighter Museum, situated at the Old Central Jail where he had breathed his last on June 9, 1900.

Birsa Munda's birth anniversary is celebrated across the country as the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.

"Respectful tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. Many best wishes to my family members across the country on this special occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas," Modi posted on X.

He also visited Birsa Munda's birthplace Ulihatu village in Khunti district.

There, he launched the Rs 24,000-crore project aimed at the development of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). He also launched the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra', released the 15th instalment of Rs 18,000 crore under the PM-KISAN scheme, and inaugurated and lay the foundation of projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in the state.

Modi unveiled projects worth around Rs 7,200 crore for the state, and these include rail, road, education, coal, petroleum and natural gas.

The projects newly inaugurated projects include the new campus of IIM-Ranchi, a new hostel of IIT-ISM Dhanbad, Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) depot in Bokaro, doubling of railway tracks in the Hatia-Pakra, Talgaria-Bokaro and Jarangdih-Patratu sections.

Foundation stones were also laid for the four-laning of the 52-km stretch of Mahagama-Hansdiha section of NH-133, four-laning of the 45-km stretch of Basukinath-Deoghar section of NH-114 A, KDH-Purnadih Coal Handling Plant and a new academic and administrative building of IIIT-Ranchi.

President Droupadi Murmu also greeted the people of Jharkhand on their state's foundation day and wished for its progress.

"My heartiest greetings to all the residents of Jharkhand on the occasion of state day. The birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda is celebrated as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas'. I wish that Jharkhand, which is full of natural resources, always remains progressive and the blessings of Lord Birsa remain on the people here," Murmu said in a post in Hindi on X.
