The 25-year-old winger, currently with Odisha FC in the Indian Super League (ISL), is set to showcase his talent on an international stage, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

Kerala-born Rahul

Born in Thrissur, Kerala, Rahul Kannoly Praveen’s journey began with the Kerala state football team before he honed his skills at the AIFF Elite Academy. He turned professional with Indian Arrows in 2017, making 37 appearances and netting five goals over two seasons. His performances caught the eye of Kerala Blasters, where he spent six seasons, scoring eight goals in 87 appearances.

In January this year, Rahul transferred to Odisha FC, continuing to make his mark in the ISL.

Rahul’s international career is equally noteworthy. He was part of India's squad for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and progressed through the U20 and U23 teams. In September 2022, he made his senior debut against Singapore.

A highlight came during the 2022 Asian Games, where Rahul scored India's only goal in a 1-5 loss to China, marking the country's first goal in the tournament in 13 years.

Club praises Rahul

West Ham United's decision to include Rahul in their TST squad underscores his growing reputation. The club praised his "mesmerising array of tricks and exceptional speed," qualities essential for the fast-paced 7v7 format.

The Soccer Tournament offers a $1 million prize, attracting top talent worldwide. Rahul’s participation not only elevates his profile but also shines a spotlight on Indian football’s potential on the global stage.

Rahul's journey from local tournaments in Kerala to representing a Premier League club internationally serves as an inspiration for aspiring footballers in India. His dedication and progression reflect the growing opportunities for Indian players to make their mark globally.

As Rahul dons the West Ham jersey at TST 2025, he carries with him the hopes of a nation eager to see its footballers succeed on the world stage.
