Sam Altman endorses Rs 1.5-lakh AI crib by Bengaluru woman’s startup
OpenAI chief Sam Altman recommends Cradlewise’s AI-powered smart baby crib built by Bengaluru’s Radhika Patil, praising its smart tech for soothing babies
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who welcomed a baby boy with partner Oliver Mulherin in February, recently surprised the internet by recommending an Indian startup’s innovation for new parents.
Altman took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Cradlewise smart crib, a tech-enabled crib developed by Bengaluru-born entrepreneur Radhika Patil and her husband Bharath Patil.
He called it “one of the few baby products truly worth buying,” adding that most other baby gear was unnecessary.
Developed by entrepreneur Radhika Patil and her husband Bharath Patil, the AI-powered crib is priced at Rs 1.5 lakh in India and $1,999 in the US. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Altman called it one of the very few baby products truly worth buying.

Smart sleep tech
Cradlewise uses AI to detect early signs of a baby waking and is aimed at improving infant sleep.
Instead of waiting for the child to cry, the crib gently bounces and plays soothing music to lull the infant back to sleep.
The product includes integrated baby monitoring and music features but does not incorporate a built-in swaddle.
It can be converted from a bassinet into a toddler crib, accommodating children up to the age of two.
From Bengaluru to the US
Cradlewise was founded in 2016 by Radhika Patil and her husband Bharath.
The idea for Cradlewise came after the birth of the founders’ daughter, Anushka.
The first prototype was built in Bengaluru, but the family later moved to the US during the pandemic to launch commercially. Radhika, an alumna of IISc Bengaluru and Stanford University, now leads the company as CEO.
Their startup now operates in both India and the United States.
Gratitude from founder
Reacting to Altman’s unexpected endorsement, Radhika posted, “Thanks for loving us Sam Altman. The AI god’s trust in the smarts of Cradlewise means a lot to us.”
Her post quickly gained traction, amplifying the global spotlight on this India-born innovation.

Redefining baby tech
While established names like Snoo have long dominated the smart crib market, Cradlewise’s blend of proactive AI-based care and long-term usability is turning heads — especially with Altman’s high-profile backing.
The endorsement not only boosts Cradlewise’s visibility but also highlights the growing global footprint of Indian tech startups in consumer wellness.
